Is the law of attraction working against you? The law of attraction is really simple. It states that energy with a particular frequency or vibration will attract energy with similar vibration. If you think positive thoughts, you will attract positivity and if you think negative thoughts, you will attract negativity. This is a continuous, automatic loop.

A few years ago I reconnected with a friend that I had not met in a long time. We spent the day going to lunch, shopped a little and then walked over to have some dessert. Afterwards she took me to see a particular building complex. As we stood across from these magnificent towers, with beautiful balconies lining them, my friend wistfully told me that it was her dream to live in that building. She was manifesting it. I smiled and looked at her as she continued to look at the buildings.
Curious, I asked her, what was stopping her from living her dream now. She went on to tell me how expensive buying an apartment in that building was, told me about all the financial obligations she already had, how she would have to give up on a lot of things to be able to actually afford to live there.
It breaks my heart to say this, but my friend is never going to live in that building, not with her current mindset. The reason is every time she thinks about her dream house, she is experiencing an emotion of ‘lack’. Her self-talk is giving her all the reasons she ‘cannot’ afford it. The more she pines after her dream house, the farther in reach it will seem. Because her energy of lack is attracting more scarcity in her life. She will continue to worry about money and continue to face financial situations that are more limiting.
Of course, there is a way for her to turn this situation around. And I am sure you’ve guessed what she needs to do. Positive self-talk and positive energy.
Here’s the advice I gave her to break out of her negative patterns and start using the law of attraction in her favor:
• Start by observing and noticing your thoughts - being aware of your thoughts and feelings is the first step to change. Observe which thoughts are giving rise to what kind of an emotion.
• Choose a neutral word - something that doesn’t elicit an emotional response in you - when you realize you are having a negative thought, say this neutral word and replace your thought with a positive one immediately. Let your brain develop new neural pathways to process this change in way of thinking
• Use the law of deliberate creation - while the law of attraction is attracting thoughts, emotions, energy and vibrations by default, the law of deliberate creation is creating these consciously. Train your mind to consciously elicit positive emotions and vibrations when you think about something. My friend has been working on these since we last met. She isn’t living in her dream building, YET, but she confessed that it doesn’t seem as far off a thing as it did before. She is more optimistic about her present and her future. She is using the law of deliberate creation to infuse ‘hope’.
